BIO
John Merikoski is a Chicago‑based producer, mix engineer, and multi‑instrumentalist whose work spans international touring, live sessions on KEXP, AudioTree, and BBC, commercial advertising, and collaborations with award‑winning artists.
He attended the University of Illinois on a full scholarship for jazz drum studies before joining the internationally touring act The Way Down Wanderers. Over more than a decade on the road, John has toured across North America, New Zealand, Europe, and the United Kingdom, performing and recording with Grammy‑winning engineers and producers.
His studio and live credits include David Hyde Pierce, Yvvie Oddly (winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race), Marquis Hill, Jenni Eddy Jennings, members of the Ray Charles Orchestra, and many others. John has also worked alongside legendary producers such as Sylvia Massy.
In the commercial world, John’s music has appeared in nationally airing campaigns for brands including Samsung, GoDaddy, DoorDash, Chili’s, Sports Illustrated, Truly, and Healthspring, with multiple placements featured in Super Bowl broadcasts.
Most recently, John made his debut as a film composer, creating the original score for a movie premiering on the upcoming 2026 film festival circuit.
